Climate Media Hub

Created an online community to amplify support for climate policies through targeted digital engagement

As a Legislative Assistant for Member of Parliament Louis Ng, I gained a critical insight: government decision-makers use social media engagement metrics—likes, shares, and comments—as a key indicator of public priority. When the Covid-19 crisis eliminated traditional, in-person forms of citizen engagement, this online channel became more critical than ever. Recognising that my networks of climate-concerned citizens were eager to continue mobilising for urgent climate action but confined to our homes, I spearheaded a pivot to digital advocacy.

I conceived and launched the Climate Media Hub, an online community designed to strategically signal-boost politicians' and news outlets' posts advocating for systemic environmental policies.

Our Theory of Change

The Hub operated on a simple model to translate online activity into tangible political influence:

Our Impact

The Climate Media Hub grew into a vibrant community of over 760 members, who collectively shared 300+ posts. Our focused efforts approximately doubled the social media traction of key environmental posts such as those by MP Louis Ng, sending a data-driven signal to policymakers about the public's demand for climate action.

Beyond the metrics, the Hub served as a vital space for sharing news, brainstorming ideas, and building solidarity among those experiencing eco-anxiety, fostering a more informed and resilient climate advocacy network in Singapore.
